I crept downstairs to check that everything was ready for her. She couldn't escape since my house was surrounded by walls and an iron gate with particularly nasty barbed wire on top of it. We had six days together before she was discovered missing.

I loved Christmas, and it reminded me of all the fun we used to have as children, tearing into our presents and playing together until we were tired. Only this Christmas, the toys I’d bought would have me playing with Sirah all night long.

Since I didn't want to miss any time with Sirah, caterers would bring our dinner. I would need to make a quick stop at my parents' house for Seth’s big reveal about the baby. Sirah might come with me, but it all depends on how well-behaved she is.

Then there was my mother, who would side with any woman capable of giving her grandchildren, and Katya viewed me as a fuckboy. Seth was a dickhead, and my dad always remained neutral, which was a good strategic plan to keep him out of trouble. It might not end well for me.

I studied my black and silver Christmas tree with the presents strewn all over the floor. I might have gone overboard with her gifts, but I wanted this to be our perfect first Christmas—if Sirah could overlook the fact that I kidnapped her and planned to keep her captive in my home.

Today was day one hundred and fifty-one, Christmas day.
